Highlight events in your academic life

Owlstown Highlights is a feature where you can write short descriptions of the many events in your academic work and life. These highlights are organized by date and listed in a special Highlights page or block. I made this because I’ve noticed that people use the Posts feature (which is designed for long form content) to write short descriptions of happenings in their academic lives. Now, you have Highlights for short form descriptions.

Adding Highlights
Go to the Highlights screen from the Owlstown Editor dashboard.
On the Highlights screen, click on the Add button.
In the Highlight form, edit the following properties of your highlight:
- Date
Date of the highlight - Value
Text description of the highlight - URL (optional)
URL to a page with more details about the highlight - Picture (optional)
A picture to illustrate the highlight
By default, highlights are unpublished, so don't forget to click the Publish button when your highlight is ready to be shared.
Link to your Highlights page on the navigation bar
Every Owlstown website has a Highlights page. It lists all the highlights that the website has published. You can link to your website's Highlight page on your website's Navigation bar.

Go to the Navigation screen from the Owlstown Editor dashboard.
In the Navigation screen, click on the "Add link" button to open the "Add link" dialog.
In the Add Link dialog, click on the "Special Pages" tab and look for the Highlights link.
Add a Highlights block on a page
Sometimes you want to list your recent highlights on a web page. Most people might want to do this on their home page.

Select a page to edit, e.g., the Home page.
Add a block to the page. Wait for the "Add a block" dialog to appear.
On the "Add a block dialog", click on the "List of highlights" block.
Add a block to the page. Wait for the "Add a block" dialog to appear.
On the "Add a block dialog", click on the "List of highlights" block.
On the "List of highlights" block editor, you can select how many highlights you want to appear. Default is to show all highlights.
