Markdown Footnotes

One feature of Markdown text blocks is that you can add footnotes to them.

Footnotes are a good way to add additional information to your text without breaking the flow of your text. People use them to write tidbits of information or tangents.

How to use

Add footnotes to your Markdown text blocks like so:

This is Markdown text with footnotes [^1].
It has 2 footnotes. The second footnote is here [^2].

[^1]: This is the 1st footnote.
[^2]: This is the 2nd footnote.

The Markdown text above looks like this when rendered on your website.

This is Markdown text with footnotes 1 . It has 2 footnotes. The second footnote is here 2 .

Notice how the footnotes appear as numbered badges. Click on a badge and a panel will show up with the text of the footnote.

List of footnotes

If you want to show the list of footnotes, you have to manually add it to the page. To do so, use the Markdown Footnotes block.

The Markdown Footnotes block
The Markdown Footnotes block looks like this when rendered on your website.
  1. This is the 1st footnote.

  2. This is the 2nd footnote.

💡
The Markdown Footnotes block only shows the footnotes from Markdown blocks that are before it. Thus, the Markdown Footnotes block must appear after all Markdown blocks for it to list all the footnotes in a page.
